About Me

It’s an amazing feeling when you finally discover what you’re called to do in the artistic universe. After exploring many creative paths throughout my life, I have found my true calling in gardening—specifically in the art of bonsai and penjing. Or perhaps, in a way, this medium chose me.

I still remember the first time I saw bonsai at a nursery as a child. The tiny trees looked like toys; I could hardly believe they were living trees! Though I never had one of my own growing up, the idea of having an entire tree scaled down to handheld proportions fascinated me.

Years later, as I rekindled my interest in gardening and began growing vegetables, I encountered something at a local nursery that reignited those old memories. Portland Nursery’s incredible penjing display inspired me to create one of my own.

My first penjing project was a fun and fulfilling experience, though the trees didn’t survive the heatwave of 2024. Despite this, I learned invaluable lessons from that first attempt, and I am excited to continue my education in this beautiful art form.

In this blog, I will document the learning process and any steps I make toward operating this business making penjings and bonsai. I welcome you to join me in this endeavor as we patiently await the new growth in both these beautiful trees and in our own lives.
